The Helic™ Batting System
The Helic™ Batting System

The Helic™ Batting System (HBS) is an innovative training system for baseball and softball that increases strength and bat speed. The helical weight is a patent pending technology offered in a two ounce size. Studies shown that training with bat weights that are over 20% of the total bat weight can alter normal swing mechanics and form bad habits. Heavy on deck warm-up weights can also create altered hitting mechanics. The Helic™ Batting System uses weight loadings that are 5-20% of the bat weight.

Programs for the Helic™ Batting System can improve hitting performance for every age, gender, and skill level. The Helic™ Batting System can be used with dry swings, hitting Wiffle® balls, or hitting actual baseballs and softballs. With the Helic™ Batting System you can take your normal practice swings and easily adjust the Helic™ weight on any property sized bat.

The Helic™ weight automatically adjusts on the tapered transitional part of the bat between the barrel and the handle. The balance point or "center of mass" of the bat is located on this transitional part. This is the key reference point for locating the Helic™ weights. when the Helic™ weights are positioned at the center of mass location, the bat feels natural like the next size heavier bat. A location closer to the bat handle side feels like a lighter bat head. A location closer to the bat barrel side feels like a heavier bat head which creates more of a whip action at the end of the swing, thus developing more wrist strength. The center of mass is different for every bat See "Find Bat Center Point" in our enclosed instruction sheet or go to our PlayBall™ website: for marking the "center of mass" reference point on your specific bat.

There are two basic programs in the Helic™ Batting System. Each program is tailored by gender, age, and skill level to fit your personal training need.

1.Helic™ Lite Batting System for women and youth (two - 2 oz weights) (4 oz)
2.Helic™ Batting System for men (three - 2oz weights) (6oz)

Note: Each link contains an excel spreadsheet with detailed information on the program. The spreadsheet contains multiple tabs/worksheets.

The Helic™ Batting programs can be 4, 6, or 7 weeks depending on your time schedule and desired bat speed gains. Each program is carefully balanced so as not to alter your natural; swing mechanics. A different pyramid method of training is used each week with a different sequence to ensure that your muscles are constantly challenged to maximize gains. The program pyramid sequence should be repeated 2-3 times during the week with at least one recovery day between sessions. We highly recommend that you do not exceed 100 swings per day, which generally leads to bad hitting habits due to fatigue, lack of focus, and over training. Following the Helic™ Batting Program will lead to an increase in bat speed over the period of the program. Our recommendation is to repeat the program at least once per week to maintain bat speed gains after completing the basic Helic™ Batting Program.

Note: REMOVE Helic™ WEIGHTS FROM BAT OR STORE ON BAT HANDLE WHEN NOT IN USE (the plastic weight has memory and become permanently enlarged if left on over 24 hours).

Begin by selecting the proper individual size bat that fits you - an essential before staring the Helic™ Batting Program. The Playball ™ Bat Sizing Guide is a general bat selection guide to fit most players with the proper bat size. See our website to determine your ideal bat size.

The Helic™ OnDeck System

The Helic™ OnDeck System is an innovative on deck warm-up weight that is a patent pending technology and offered in a four and a six ounce size. Studies have shown that bat weights that are over 20% of the bat weight can alter normal swing mechanics and form bad habits. Heavy on deck warm-up weights can create altered hitting mechanics. The Helic™ OnDeck System recommends on deck weights under 20%.

The Helic™OnDeck System is recommended for only dry swings as a warm-up weight. The Helic™ OnDeck helical design automatically adjusts on the tapered transitional part of the bat between the barrel and the handle. The balance point or "center of mass" of the bat is located on the transitional part. Is is the key reference point for locating the Helic™ OnDeck weights. When the Helic™ OnDeck weights are positioned at the center of mass location, the bat feels natural like the next size heavier bat. This is the recommended location.

However, locations closer and further away from the center of mass can be used to reinforce a broader feel range during the upcoming at bat. A location closer to the bat handle side feels like a lighter bat head. A location closer o the bat barrel side feels like a heavier bat head which creates more of a whip action at the end of the swing, thus requiring more wrist strength. The center of mass is different for every bat. See the enclosed instruction sheet or go to our Playball website for marking the "center of mass" reference point on your individual bat.

There are two basic on deck weights in the Helic™ OnDeck System:
1.Helic™ Lite OnDeck System (3 Ounce Size)
2.Helic™ OnDeck System (4 Ounce Size)

Note: The Helic™ OnDeck System is not recommended for a batting program for hitting actual balls as the OnDeck weights may experience some movement.
